The Mountain City, in Three Luminous Days
Few cities reveal themselves the way Chongqing does. Built across steep ridges where the Yangtze meets the Jialing, it stacks streets upon streets, runs trains through buildings, and sets its skyline alight after dark. Three days is enough to ride above a great river, watch a hillside of stilt houses turn to gold, and surrender to a bubbling cauldron of chili and Sichuan pepper — all with a private guide who knows which staircase leads to the best view.
Day 1: The Heart & Its First Glow
The journey begins downtown at Jiefangbei, the city’s bustling center, before descending the historic Shancheng Steps toward the river. The afternoon explores the revived lanes of the Eighteen Steps (Shibati) and climbs to Eling Park for a sweeping panorama of the peninsula. Then, as night falls, the unforgettable centerpiece: the stilt houses of Hongya Cave blazing gold above the water, best framed from Qiansimen Bridge — followed by a first, fiery bowl of hotpot.
Day 2: Marvels & Old Lanes
After an unhurried morning, you reach the famous Liziba station, where the light-rail train passes clean through a residential tower. The afternoon slows into Ciqikou Ancient Town, an old riverside trading port of teahouses and stone-paved alleys. At dusk, the Yangtze River Cableway carries you across the great river, the city glittering on both banks.
Day 3: Quiet Corners & Farewell
The final morning belongs to Xiahaoli, a lovingly restored enclave of old Chongqing — wooden façades, climbing alleys, and unhurried corners. A drive up to the Nanshan heights offers one last sweeping look over the mountain city and its two rivers, before a riverside stroll and your departure transfer.

Eighteen Steps & Eling Park
Wander the restored old quarter of Shibati, the Eighteen Steps, then climb to Eling Park for one of the finest panoramas of the peninsula and its rivers.
Hongya Cave & Qiansimen Bridge

Yes — it is a true mountain city of slopes, stairs, and multi-level streets. We pace the walking carefully and use the private car between districts, but comfortable shoes are essential.
How spicy is the hotpot?
Genuinely spicy — even the 'mild' broth carries heat. We can recommend houses with a clear (non-spicy) broth option and order to your tolerance.
Is three days enough to see Chongqing?
Three days covers the central districts and their icons comfortably. Farther sights like Wulong or the Wujiang Gorges need extra days, which we can add on request.
