Warm Local Hearts

Ice fishing with local masters, iron-pot stew and Korean-style BBQ — winter with warmth.

Five Days of Powder, Onsen & Warm Hearts

You don’t need Northern Europe or Japan for great snow — Changbai Mountain is China’s finest winter playground. In five gentle days, a private driver and guide carry you from the forest onsen of Zhihe Resort to the ski-in, ski-out slopes of Wanda, wrapping every frozen moment in warm Northeast hospitality. Soak, ski, drift through rime and share an iron-pot stew in the snow — winter fun is closer than you think.

Day 1: Arrive & First Soak

Fly straight into Changbai Airport, where your driver meets you for a 1.5-hour ride as the city fades into snowy forest. Check into the forest-wrapped Zhihe Resort, slip into a yukata and sink into the outdoor onsen — snowflakes above, hot spring all around. Then catch the ice slide, meet the peacocks and adopt your own snowman before a warm dinner of ginseng chicken or Korean-style BBQ in Erdaobaihe town.

Day 2: Snow Ridge Adventure

Race into the forest on a snowmobile, feed the reindeer that gather around you, and trundle down on a horse-drawn sleigh. Thaw out over hot wine at the forest tavern, then head back to the onsen for another long soak. After dark, take the optional night tour to the mysterious “Cloud Palace” of The Lost Tomb — or catch a shaman parade and winter fireworks if you’re lucky.

Day 3: Rime Morning to Wanda

Begin with a slow breakfast beside frost-covered branches, then drift the misty Magic World river with rime sparkling on both banks. At the century-old Jinjiang Wood Village, a heritage master teaches you paper-cutting while you dip hawthorns in hot syrup for crisp candied haws. By evening you’ve moved to Wanda Resort, resting up for ski day — no rushing.

Day 4: A Full Day on the Slopes

Step out and you’re on the slopes. Two relaxed sessions — 09:00–11:00 and 14:00–16:00 — with a coach on request, or simply ski longer. Craving more thrill? Swap the afternoon for a guided snow UTV ride, racing through birch forests. Close the day with volcanic stone BBQ and ice-cold beer.

Day 5: Ice Fishing & Farewell

Drive to a frozen lake where a local fishing master waits. Help cut the ice, lower the nets and haul in fish that flash in the sun, then gather firewood at a local home for a bubbling iron-pot stew in the snow. A short 30-minute transfer ends your 5-day, 4-night winter tale.

What’s Included

A private car and guide for all five days, two nights at Zhihe Resort with its forest onsen and snow playground, two nights ski-in ski-out at Wanda Resort, Wanda ski passes with optional coaching, the Snow Ridge, rime drifting and Jinjiang Village activities, the ice-fishing experience and snow hotpot lunch, plus every transfer including airport pickup and drop-off. The logistics melt away, leaving only the snow.

Pricing

Price available on request — including hotel upgrades at Wanda up to the Park Hyatt, ski coaching add-ons and optional UTV rides.

Snow falls, hearts warm. Five days on Changbai — the powder, the onsen and the people — and you’ll leave with cold hands and a very warm heart.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to visit Changbai Mountain?

December to February offers the deepest powder, the most dramatic rime frost and the full ski season — the prime window for this winter trip.

I'm a beginner skier. Is Wanda suitable?

Absolutely — Wanda's trails are beginner-friendly, ski-in ski-out means no early commutes, and you can book a coach for extra confidence.

Is the hot spring actually outdoors in the snow?

Yes — Zhihe Resort's private outdoor onsen and 'iron pot' pools sit in the forest, so you soak in steaming water while snow falls around you.

Can the itinerary be customized?

Of course — swap the afternoon for a UTV ride, extend your ski hours, or add optional night tours in town.
